A serene night sky filled with stars above a forested area. The silhouetted trees stand tall against the night backdrop, while a two-lane road, illuminated faintly by low lighting, runs through the scene.

DARK SKY INTERNATIONAL

Embark on a journey to preserve the mesmerizing night sky! We’re in talks with Dark Sky International, who are crafting a campground program to raise awareness about light pollution. The night sky here is a spectacle, with stars so close it feels surreal.

So, what’s Dark Sky, and why does it matter? Education on light pollution is crucial for a vibrant ecosystem, allowing natural circadian rhythms for humans, animals, and plants. Similar to efforts for sea turtles, minimizing outside lighting ensures a harmonious connection with the natural world. Explore our resources and stay tuned for updates on our Dark Sky certification journey, as we strive to protect the magic of our night sky.

BALSAM WOODS IS NOW A NASA ECLIPSE AMBASSADOR!

As a NASA Partner Eclipse Ambassador, Balsam Woods is proud to be recognized for its amazing skies. Our pristine skies are the prime star gazing spot and are perfect for the upcoming Eclipse. Join us as a part of your celestial journey at Balsam Woods campground.
