Spacious Skies Campgrounds has acquired the Savannah Oaks RV Resort in Savannah, Ga., and renamed it Spacious Skies Savannah Oaks, according to a press release.
This acquisition is the company’s 15th campground and first in the state of Georgia. Located steps from Ogeechee River west of the historic city of Savannah – the oldest planned city in the United States – near the junction of Interstate 95 and Georgia State Highway 204, the campground features 115 RV sites.
On-site amenities include a playground, horseshoe pit, basketball court, tetherball, dog park, camp store, bathhouse, laundry and boat launch. As with its other acquisitions, Spacious Skies has thoroughly assessed the state of the campground facilities and proactively prepared a comprehensive plan for rolling out infrastructure repairs and adding guest amenities. Plans include installing new playgrounds, adding a jumping pillow, repairing the pool, enhancing sites with fire rings and picnic tables, well improvements, pavilion repairs, road paving, store clean up and updates and more, to be accomplished in phases.
“We are excited to add a campground in an area with such rich history, outdoor recreation and quintessential Southern charm,” said Ali Rasmussen, co-founder of Spacious Skies Campgrounds. “We expect a healthy mixture of campers seeking a cultural destination and those looking for a fun stop on their way north and south.”
Nearby attractions include Savannah and its famed River Street, the Golden Isles (St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island), Tybee Island, Forsyth Park, Okefenokee Swamp Park, Wormsloe Historic Site, Midway Colonial Museum, Georgia Coastal Colonial Gardens, Fort Frederica National Monument, Fort James Jackson and Fort Pulaski.
Spacious Skies Savannah Oaks is the company’s southernmost campground, joining others that stretch north all the way to Maine and west to Tennessee.
The campground’s RV sites can be booked by calling 912-748-4000 or by going online starting April 24.
