24 in ’24; Things To Do Across the Spacious Skies Collection of Campgrounds
BERNARDSVILLE, N.J., Feb. 23, 2024 – With 15 campgrounds in 10 states and locations near charming towns, lush parks, historic sites, scenic hiking trails and soothing lakes and ponds, there are endless ways to spend a day at a Spacious Skies campground.
All the campgrounds feature a range of RV sites, and many also offer glamping options including yurts, cabins and retro trailers as well as tent sites.
“Camping to me is all about doing as much – or as little – as your heart desires, and with our many on-site facilities and interesting locations, our campers have plenty of choices,” said Ali Rasmussen, co-founder of Spacious Skies Campgrounds.
Here are 24 for ideas for making the most of your camping adventure in 2024:

1 – Get Fresh
Given the cozy and compact nature of most RVs, campers tend to make smaller shopping trips more frequently, and farmers markets are great places to find fresh produce and other local products. Although all Spacious Skies campgrounds are close to these markets, a couple of suggestions are the Maine Highlands markets near Spacious Skies Balsam Woods in Abbot, Maine, Spacious Skies Walnut Grove in Alfred, Maine and the Yankee Farmers Market near Spacious Skies French Pondin Henniker, N.H.
2 – Make Whoopie
Actually, make your way to the Whoopie Pie Festival June 22. Located near Spacious Skies Balsam Woods in Abbot, Maine, the festival is the largest event in Piscataquis County. The Whoopie Pie is Maine’s Official State Treat and is comprised of two cookies with a creamy filling.
3 -Search for Little Green Beings
Every year in early September the Exeter UFO Festival celebrates the “Exeter Incident” of 1965 when people spotted five flashing red lights hovering silently over a farm. The festival is always fun and is a major fundraiser for the local Kiwanis Club. Stay at Spacious Skies Seven Maples. Or head to Spacious Skies Bear Den in Spruce Pine, N.C. for the Spruce Pine Alien Festival in early June for a complete lineup of all things extraterrestrial.

4 – Be a Bum
The Tybee Beach Bum Parade in mid-May near Spacious Skies Savannah Oaks bills itself as the “World’s oldest, largest and most fun water fight.” This festival on Tybee Island pits the parade watchers against the people on the floats as they soak each other using squirt guns.
5 – Let Loose the Hounds
For more than 35 years Ocean City, New Jersey near Spacious Skies Country Oaks welcomes spring in mid-April with the comedy Doo Dah Parade featuring string bands, marching bands, floats and pageant winners. The highlight, however, is watching some 300 basset hounds have a howling good time.

7 – Listen to Some Bluegrass
The Blooms, Bluegrass and BBQ Festival near Spacious Skies Belle Ridgein Monterey, Tenn. takes place in early May. Or head to Winchester, Va. near Spacious Skies Shenandoah Views in Luray for Fiddles & Fifths in early June which combines bluegrass and bourbon tastings.
8 – Listen to Some Jazz
The Savannah Music Festival near Spacious Skies Savannah Oaks offers a multi-week event from late March to mid-April with top jazz, classical and acoustic artists.
9 – Enjoy a Weekend of Peace, Paws & Music

17 – Learn Your History, Part 1
Cowpens National Battlefield near Spacious Skies Peach Haven, in Gaffney, S.C provides details on the Battle of Cowpens in 1781, a turning point in the American Revolution. The American victory over the British Army was the first of several that culminated in independence.
18 – Learn Your History, Part 2
Fort Ticonderoga was the sight of battles during the French and Indian War during the 1750s and again during the American Revolution. It is located near the south end of Lake Champlain, not far from Spacious Skies Adirondack Peaks in North Hudson, New York. Today the fort is a combination of historical site, museum, cultural destination and learning center.

Linville Caverns near Spacious Skies Hidden Creekin Marion, N.C. was discovered when a fishing expedition saw trout swimming through what looked to be a solid rock, Instead, it was an opening to a large cave complete with stalactites and stalagmites as well as a bat population. Literally. The Fire on the Mountain festival in late April in Spruce Pine, N.C., celebrates blacksmiths and their skill forging metal into useful items, art and functional art.

Rent a kayak at Spacious Skies Seven Maples, Hancock, N.H. and paddle Moose Brook. Water enthusiasts can paddle the Nashua River near Spacious Skies Minute Manin Littleton, Mass. If saltwater is your preference, Spacious Skies Country Oaksin Dorothy, N.J. is an easy drive to Atlantic City where you can find multiple ways to spend the day on the ocean.
