Ready to announce a full denial of winter’s arrival by refusing to give up your passion for camping? We get it. Here to help you on that quest? Spacious Skies, with 1,672 RV, tent, cabin and glamping site options in 13 locations throughout the eastern United States, stretching from Maine to South Carolina, has five sites open throughout the winter season. And, while some seasonal recreational options and amenities such as swimming pools, beaches and other warm-weather outdoor activities may be limited, they’ve been replaced by cozier choices.
Here’s a sampling:
Spread across 500 acres close to Nashville, Knoxville and Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Spacious Skies Belle Ridge in Tennessee offers 12 cabins and 50 full RV hookups, plus single and group tent sites. Among the amenities are a gazebo and pavilion, WiFi, golf carts, a camp store and gem mining. Nearby hiking and UTV trails lead to fishing holes and waterfalls (and seasonal swimming). Spacious Skies Belle Ridge is close to Interstate 40 and attractions including the Civil War Trail, Cummins Falls State Park, Cumberland Cove Golf Course and Monterey Rail Trail.
At Spacious Skies Peach Haven in South Carolina’s Upcountry, right off Interstate 85, winter campers can enjoy mini golf, a dog park, playground, ball pit, fishing and a pavilion. There’s also a recreation hall, fire pit, camp store and hiking trails. WiFi is available at all 127 RV sites, seven tent sites and six deluxe lodges that each accommodate up to six people. Lodging also includes two deluxe cabins sleeping six, one deluxe cabin sleeping four and two deluxe units sleeping two. Lodges and cabins are fitted with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, private decks, televisions and gas grills. Guests bring their own linens, bedding, cooking utensils and other supplies. Daytrips to nearby attractions include Hollywild Animal Park, Cherokee County History & Arts Museum, Cowpens National Battlefield and Spartanburg Art Museum.
At the feet of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, North Carolina, Spacious Skies Hidden Creek welcomes winter in different ways. Whilesport courts for volleyball, shuffleboard, basketball and Gaga ball are not open in winter, there’s miniature golf, fishing and a variety of nature trails awaiting guests. Along with RV sites that include choices with views of the property’s five-acre lake or private creek, lodging options include deluxe one- and two-bedroom cabins. Plenty of nearby attractions make a winter trip worthwhile, including Lake James and Pisgah National Forest, Linville Caverns, Linville Falls, Linville Gorge and the Orchard at Altapass.
