The Catawba Angler

The Catawba Angler is a fly fishing and light tackle guide service based out of Old Fort, North Carolina. They are nestled in the heart of the Pisgah National Forest and have permits to fish any creek or river around the Asheville area. Typically these expert guides float the Catawba River, Catawba Tailrace, and charter Lake James. The Catawba Angler was voted the best fishing guide service in McDowell County for 2019 and 2020 and continues to receive rave reviews from happy fishers, experienced and newbie alike!

Linville Caverns provides guided tours into Humpback Mountain, taking visitors along a smooth walkway beside an underground stream. Stalactites, stalagmites, a vast array of mineral colors, the “Bottomless Pool,” and a glimpse of total darkness are all part of this underground trip.

Linville Falls is the most photographed waterfall in North Carolina. The falls move in several distinct steps, beginning in a twin set of upper falls, moving down a small gorge, and finally culminating in a high-volume 90-foot drop. Linville Falls has the highest volume of any waterfall on the Northern Edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
