Several campgrounds across Upstate New York are expanding and making improvements for the 2023 camping season, from new campsites to playgrounds to swimming pools—even a couple of goats.
Donald G. Bennett, Jr., president and CEO of Campground Owners of New York, a trade association representing 200 independently owned campgrounds and RV parks in New York, said that most member campgrounds make some improvements each year.
Here’s a list of Upstate campgrounds that are getting makeovers:
Hudson Valley region
Spacious Skies Woodland Hills in Austerlitz has two new playgrounds, a jumping pillow, and a gem mine. A swimming pool is also under construction. Other improvements include two renovated bath houses and new laundry facilities.
Adirondacks
Spacious Skies Adirondack Peaks in North Hudson, formerly Camp Tin Box, got a new dog park, a gem mining activity, and a jumping pillow. Park operators are partnering with Black Folks Camp Too, an organization that seeks to welcome everybody to enjoy the “RV lifestyle,” regardless of their race, age, or gender.
