After completing extensive campground renovations throughout last winter, Spacious Skies Hidden Creek in Marion, N.C., is offering both monthly and winter seasonal sites this year. Newly reduced rates start at just $650, and campers who book a monthly site now will receive up to two months of complimentary electricity, according to a press release.
Located in a dense forest within an easy drive of Asheville and less than two hours from Charlotte and the Greenville-Spartanburg areas, the campground was added to the Spacious Skies Campgrounds collection in July, 2022. The campground features 141 RV sites including sites with views of a private creek, five-acre lake and the Blue Ridge mountains as well as 17 deluxe one- and two-bedroom cabins. Local attractions include the Catawba Greenway and Beanstalk Journey Zip-line, Lake James and Pisgah National Forest, Linville Caverns, Linville Falls, Linville Gorge and Orchard Altapass.
Under the new ownership, Spacious Skies Hidden Creek launched major improvement projects, including a massive paving project that resulted in an easy-to-navigate campground, the addition of a fleet of new golf carts available for rent, the addition of a jumping pillow, the replacement of the gem mine, repairs to the mini golf course, leveling and adding gravel to all sites and repairs to the campground’s pools. Buildings were repainted, and a wildflower field was planted as part of a general beautification project.
“We’re proud of the way our team accomplished park-wide improvements that enhance the camping experience while putting a pleasant shine on the overall look of the campground,” said Ali Rasmussen, co-founder of Spacious Skies Campgrounds. “The location is also great for area workers like visiting nurses and contractors on temporary assignments. Our extended stay options allow these workers to settle into a terrific campsite at a reasonable rate while they are assigned nearby.”
Spacious Skies Hidden Creek is also hosting Black Folks Camp Too’s fourth anniversary from Oct. 6-8 and there are still sites available for campers who want to participate in the celebratory event.
Black Folks Camp Too is an organization that promotes the outdoor lifestyle to campers of all experiences and backgrounds. Spacious Skies Campgrounds was the first private campground company to partner with the growing organization, and all 15 of the campgrounds in the collection, including Spacious Skies Hidden Creek, are “Unity Blaze Certified.” The certification acknowledges the campgrounds’ commitment to the Unity Blaze motto: “You are Invited and Welcomed.”
During the special weekend, campers can participate in a variety of events. In addition to Spacious Skies Hidden Creek’s Octoberfest Themed Weekend activities, bonus fun tied to the anniversary event will include live music, cozy campfires with new friends and karaoke.
Among the guests already participating in the event are families who have little camping experience as well as several first-time camping families.
